PK, Glad to hear there are other Hank III fans out there. You should also check out Wayne "The Train" Hancock. Hank III covers some of his songs on his first album.

Just a suggestion, there were 2 different bands i saw open for Mike Ness solo shows that i really liked. Check em out. The Road Kings and Deke Dickerson and the echophonics.
The Road Kings were more of a blues/rockabilly outfit and of course Deke is almost his whole own thing.

i loves me some Deke Dickerson...
hmm, new bands...The Starlight Drifters are good, The Rumblejets, Big Sandy and his Fly-Rite Boys, Three Blue Teardrops, Cave Cat Sammy, The Chop-Tops. all those are pretty traditional kinda rab.
if you like it a weee bit harder -- not psychobilly, just rab with an edge -- check out the Three Bad Jacks, The Trip Daddy's, The 7 Shot Screamers (buddies o' mine...goood stuff. their album was cheaply produced so its kinda of a bad representation...wait till the new one comes out next month.)

ah, psychobilly! The Deadbillys are good, and Dragstrip Demons. Dragstrip Demons are more hardcore punkabilly - when I saw them they were at the Bowlarama w/Deadbolt and they only played for like 20 minutes because of how much energy they use up.
Deadbolt are fun to see...they use alot of props and stuff, and are known to stop right in the middle of a song to hair spray eachother's pomps. Also at that particular show were The Phantom Rockers...also pretty good. It sucks because at All Star Lanes in Eagle Rock they were doing Bowlarama every other Saturday night and it was all rab/psychobilly stuff - they have stopped doing it for a while but I couldn't find out why. Damn! You guys just listed off some great stuff. Saw Road Kings with Mike ness as well. I think their "Rockabilly" cd is the best. Deke, met that guy, he plays a great show. Real down to earth person. I met the guys from Cave Cat Sammy as well. When I saw them I don't think they were old enough to drink! Check out BR549 (great live), The Belmont Playboys, And the Hillbilly Hellcats (a little more on the psycobilly end.)

i met the guys from Cave Cat at the Indy weekender this past year, you're right. they do look like young'ns.

the road kings were great, too bad they broke up. but you can catch the lead singer jesse dayton doing his solo stuff and it's pretty cool.
as far as the new stuff....3 bad jacks are good and aces and eights. and also big sandy.

You all named some great bands, I have to add Los Straightjackets to that mix. I waited 4 years to see them play. In fact I think I saw them with Deke and Hank. It was a Rumble at the Galaxy show. You were probably still working there Steve....it was the summer of 2002.
Actually, I think Hank was on a seperate bill, cuz I remember quite a few seniors showing up to see the grandson of the original, and he warned them to leave before he started his speed-metal set. I think close to have the crowd left, pretty hilarious!

Road Kings will be getting back together soon to cut a CD and do a short tour. It's a temporary reunion. Jesse is worth seeing live if you ever get a chance. His CDs don't do him justice.
III's second set it more screaming metal than punk these days. His label won't let him release anything but the country stuff (long bitter story) but he has done three official bootlegs of it that he sells at shows. He can't tour on his own right now as Hank III (yet another long bitter story) but he's been out playing bass with Superjoint Ritual. He's very taper friendly so see if you can get your hands on one of his live shows.
